Munich, Germany: Hour 21 of 24skate#9
Hello skaters and friends around the world,
for the second Munich 24skate#9 hour my daughter volunteered to skate one hour accompanied by me. So we got up relatively early for a Sunday morning and put on our skates:
Here you can see a GPS plot of the 8.7 km we skated. It also indicates the locations of the pictures we took.
This is the gas powered power station in southern Munich. Its turbines supply a third of the electrity for Munich.
We passed the entrance to the central wholesale for fruits, vegetable and flowers (not too busy on a Sunday).
This building hosts the European Patent Office.
The tower of the German Museum (Deutsches Museum), a museum for science and technology, one of Munich's main tourist attractions, peaks through the trees along river Isar.
The violet builing behind the trees left is one of Munich's biggest concert halls. The other two towers belong to a public bath ("Müllersches Volksbad"), built in 1901 and
still in use. At its opening it has been the biggest and most expensive public bath in the world.
Here some guests from Canada:
The parliament of Bavaria:
The second largest beer gardens in Munich's biggest park, has a "Chinese Tower". It was first erected in 1790 trying to copy a pagoda from Xianghsan Park in Bejing.
The tower burnt down a few times, but was reconstructed again. The last restoration took place in 1952 after World War II. On Sunday morning before 10 am Munich's population
is not yet that thirsty...
Shortly before the end of our skate hour we reach the Leopold Street boulevard, well-known for its many bars and cafes.
Here you can read our destination on the pavement.
This icecream cone could have the right size for a diligent 24skater.
But we prefer the real stuff:
For our way home we used the metro. Who wouldn't feel safe there in the company of such a friendly looking skater?
Best regards
Clemens
