Munich, Germany: Hour 2 of 24skate #5

Some 24skaters in Munich

We had a lot of fun during our 24skate hour. The place where we skated is the traffic free area, where in autumn the famous beer festival in Munich take place. The weather was very nice, some clouds, some sun and a light wind.
We had brought a 20m measuring tape and marked a lap of exactly 100 m length on the ground: 45 m straigth plus 5m for each turn-around. A few cones marked the track. At one end of our circuit was our changing spot. One of us was always skating, one was counting the laps with chalk on the ground. Sometimes we had more than one skater on the circuit, when two or more wanted to do a competing with each other. Clemens had to do some slaloming through the cones then, in order to make the race close.
After about half an hour the two older girls developped the ambition to reach 100 laps - and they did, when we count all laps which were skated simultaneously. Counting only the fastest skaters, we reached 84 laps, i.e. 8.4 kilometers.
We were two more skaters (the mothers). One did not bring her pair of skates, because she initally was not in the mood for skating. But when she saw how much fun we had, she joined by borrowing the skates from the other. Fortunately they had the same shoe size. But unfortunately we have no picture of both of them skating.

Next year we will try to bring more friends and classmates because it was really cool to 24skate like this.
